They’re a major component in getting a property onto the market and are pretty much the last thing you need to do for the final push on a project. But that doesn’t mean your EPC should be the last priority.

But before you can get your hands on that all-important paperwork, there are a few points to remember to get your energy performance certificate bang on time. For a fast, stress-free EPC, make sure you’ve confirmed the following:
1. Your dwelling matches the original specifications
You need to produce a written and signed letter to show that the property has been built in accordance to the drawings and specification provided. We know things can change as projects progress, so it’s important to keep us in the loop with any changes throughout the building stages to ensure plots still comply.
2. Heating Systems and U-values
You’ll need to confirm the make and model of the heating system that’s been installed in the building, as well as the cylinder make and model, if applicable.
Other important details to confirm are the U-values achieved for windows and doors in the property.
3. The building’s full postal address
This needs to be the address registered with the post office. To speed up the process, make sure the address is live on the landmark register. We can do this for you but only on a plot-by-plot basis. Doing it yourself means you can add full site addresses at a time, leading to a faster EPC turnaround.
4. Your air tightness certificate
Another crucial piece of paper you’ll need to hand is your air tightness test certificate. If you’ve completed the test with another provider, we’ll need to see the certificate. If you book your air tightness testing and EPC certification together with us as part of our residential package, we pledge to produce your EPC within 24 hours of your air test.
